State Roundtable for the North East Global Investors Summit held
Shillong, May 17: The State Investment Promotion Board, Planning, Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development Department on Wednesday held the Meghalaya State Roundtable for the North East Global Investors Summit at the State Convention Centre in the city.
Dr. Joram Beda, Commissioner and Secretary, Planning, Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development Department in his address and presentation on Investment opportunities in Meghalaya, highlighted the advantage factors of investing in Meghalaya.
Beda informed that the state has made several reforms on the ease of doing business; the Single Window System (SWS) is one such initiative that promotes business environment with focus sectors in tourism, agriculture and food processing, sports, health, education, handloom, handicrafts and textile, and IT/ITES sectors.
In his address, Harpreet Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), briefed on the potential of the northeastern states to attract investors in various focus sectors.
Singh expressed optimism that the investors will continue to engage with the state government and the Ministry of DoNER by providing opportunities to the potential investors in investing according to their sectors apart from the focus sectors.
Following the inaugural function, an open interactive session with investors was chaired by Pravin Bakshi, Commissioner and Secretary, Commerce and Industries and a B2B & B2G interaction.
