State to take two more weeks to finalise 108 service tender

Shillong Oct 12: The state government will take two more weeks to finalise the tendering process to start the108 emergency services.

Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Thursday said she took a briefing from the Managing Director of the National Health Mission on the matter of the completion of the tender that was recently floated. He has kept me abreast and I am informed that we are well ahead of the tendering procedures and that it will likely take approximately two to two and a half weeks time to finalise the process,” Ampareen told reporters.

The government floated the tender after it had terminated the contract with the GVK EMRI.

The minister said the staff of the 108 emergency services met her and expressed anxiousness about the predicament of their job status.

“However, I have given them the assurance that government of Meghalaya will handhold and protect services of all  108 service workers,” she said.

“Very importantly, we deservingwill ensure that the workers of the state are protected as per law and we will fight for their protection and we will ensure that the transition to this new company whatever be the name of the company that does become successful in that tender will take care of the people of the state of Meghalaya”, she added.
