Shillong, Dec 4: The first State University got a woman Vice Chancellor on Wednesday.
The goverment has appointed Dr Vasanthi Vijayakumar as the first VC of the Williamson Sangma State University, Tura.

The VC will get a fixed pay of Rs. 2,10,000 per month with the Special Allowance of Rs 5000 per month with effect from the date of taking over charge.
Finance Officer
The goverment also appointed DK Newar, Meghalaya Forest Service (Retd) as the Finance Officer of the University with effect from the date of taking over charge.
During his appointment, Newar will get a last pay drawn minus pension and allowances.
