State wants Centre to avoid confusion on NIA case against HNLC leaders amid peace talks
Shillong, Dec 6: The state government has moved the Centre to go slow on National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe against HNLC leaders who were summoned by the special court here to appear on January 4 in connection with an IED blast case in East Jaintia Hills.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters on Tuesday that since the HNLC is having dialogue with the government, there should not be any confusion.
“We have already communicated our views that since the peace talks have started already why should we create confusion. As I said, let the Government of India decide as we really wanted that talks should reach a conclusion permanently,” Tynsong said.
“We have also already aired all these issues including the concerns of the HNLC. So we leave it to Centre’s wisdom,” Tynsong said.
He said the state government had done its work and now is waiting for the outcome of the peace talks.
“From the government side we have done our work as we have already appointed the interlocutors involving the government of India, state and the HNLC members. We have done our part and now we are waiting for the outcome,” he added.
Tynsong asserted, “We have already taken up this matter with the GOI as we really wanted the peace talks to reach its logical conclusion.”
