Syntung Rashi Falls reopens for tourists

Shillong, Oct 6: The Rashi Falls in Syntung village in East Khasi Hills has reopened for visitors and tourists, the village dorbar has said in a statement.

Robat Pale, Syntung rangbah shnong, said, “We would like to remind you that the revenue collected from the entry fees shall be used for the payment of salaries of the teachers of the local village school. We, therefore, welcome all visitors to enjoy the sight of the beautiful Rashi Falls but at the same time, we urge them to kindly abide by the conditions laid down by the Dorbar for their safety and security.”

Pale also informed that the boats used by tourists in the past were destroyed in the recent floods and that the dorbar has bought three more boats, one of which has been donated by Tata Steel.

Syntung is 80km from Shillong and takes around two and a half hours to reach through reasonably good roads.
