Shillong, Aug 26: Vaccination of teachers is mandatory as the colleges and classes for students from 9 to 12 standards resume from September 1.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma told reporters on Thursday that colleges and schools for classes 9 to 12 can open from September 1.
However ,the teachers should get double vaccination, he said adding that the educational institutes can delay the opening till the teachers are vaccinated. The teachers who are not vaccinated should produce Covid negative RT-PCR test reports.
The chief minister said for schools in urban areas, classes 1 to 5 should be online and students of classes 6 to 8 are allowed only to visit schools to clear doubts. In rural areas, students from 1 to 5 classes can visit schools to clear doubts and students from 6 to 8 can attend classes.
