
Shillong, May 6: The educators representing Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association (MCTA) walked out of the meeting called by the education department on Wednesday to discuss the pension scheme.
According to the teachers of the deficit grant-in-aid schools and colleges of the state, the pension scheme of 2026 is not acceptable.
Speaking to journalists after walking out of the meeting, the representatives of the association said that the recently notified Meghalaya Non-Government Schools and Colleges Employees Centralised Fund Scheme, 2026, is not acceptable.
The president of MCTA Bosswell Pala said the proposed scheme of 2023 should be implemented by the government.
According to Pala, while the matter is pending with the High Court, the government has appointed new board of directors and initiated opening of accounts to implement the pension scheme of 2026 which is a matter of concern.
