Shillong, June 9: The Revolution, a mixed martial arts and fitness institute in the city, recently organised its 2nd Aireng Fight League.
The two-day event, beginning June 7, had kickboxing, MMA and jiujitsu competitions which had about 300 participants from across the North East.
The Happy Red Rooster, an MMA institute, put up a great show with six medals. Darren Kharshandy won gold in under 70 kg jiujitsu and Karthik RS won silver in above 70kg jiujitsu. In the same discipline, Wanlambok Lyngdoh won silver in under 55kg category.
In jiujitsu women’s category, Scholastica Rymbai won silver in below 55kg.
In MMA too, team Happy Red Rooster won two gold medals — Ribha Sunn in under 48 kg and Ronald Khyriem in under 57 kg.
“This was the second year of the tournament. Earlier, there were only mixed martial arts and kickboxing. But this time, we had jiujitsu on the list of the disciplines,” said Isaiah Kharmawphlang, jiujitsu coach at Happy Red Rooster.
