
Shillong, Nov 25: Three persons were arrested by the Meghalaya police in connection with the murder of the Karbi farmer at Lapangap on October 9.
The incident was during harvesting, following a scuffle between villagers in the disputed Lapangap area in West Jaintia Hills and Tapat in West Karbi-Anglong.
The victim, Orivel Timung (45), son of Sarpang Timung, was from Tapat village.
Following this, harvesting was stopped only to resume again a few weeks back.
Details of the arrested accused
1. Pyrchang Dkhar aka Loi (25), s/o. Milian Dkhar & (L) Iaishah Talang and a resident of Lapangap village, West Jaintia Hills(WJH)
2. Everyshine Tyngkan, (25), son of Jamra Tyngkan & Bunki Lamare, a resident of Saba, WJH
3. Deibormi Bhoi Lamare (27) s/o. Ivy Bhoi Lamare & Seril Dkhar, a resident of Barato-B, WJH.
As the place of occurrence was under Meghalaya, a case was registered under Nartiang Police Station under sections – 103(1),117(3),117(4),119(1),121(1),121(2),189(1)-191(3),195(1),195(2),329(1),331(5),332 and 333 of BNS.
According to West Jaintia Hills SP, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, the three accused were arrested on November 12 and are currently in judicial custody.
