Shillong, June 22: Police on Sunday arrested three persons, including a female juvenile in connection with snatching gold earrings from children.
In a statement issued on Sunday, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said on June 18, the police received an FIR from Elinda Marbaniang , a resident of Mawlai Nongkwar Block that on the same day between 1.30 om to 2 pm, while her 9-year-old daughter was coming from school, a girl followed her from the footpath steps at Wahumkhrah and asked her whether she knew any Adrian who is in class III for which she replied in the negative. The female then followed her upto Mawlai Nongkwar Block-2 and then touched the girls’ ear, forcefully removed an earring and fled away.
On June 20, another FIR was received from Sumardiam Kharlukhi of Mawlai Nonglum, that between 4 pm to 4.30 pm, three unknown persons- one female and two males- approached her house while her 9 year-old daughter was playing outside. The female then forcefully cut off her right earring and fled away.
Both the cases were registered in Mawlai police station.
Syiem said the female (16 years & 9 months), Other accused Mabanker Jyrwa (23), a resident of Jaiaw, Lansonalane and Charles Myrthong (20), a resident of Riatsamthiah were arrested by Mawlai police.
The stolen articles have been recovered and seized, on being led by the female and the accused from Mawbah New Oscar Jewellers Shop.
