Shillong, Aug 17: Police arrested three Manipuri women with heroin worth over Rs 4 crore at the Umkiang police patrol post in East Jaintia Hills on Sunday.
The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the district police apprehended Kimnei (33), Dimkhothing (47), and Ngaiting (40), all residents of Khongjom, Manipur.
Four bags containing 80 soap boxes with 961.33 grams of heroin were recovered from their possession.
The seized heroin is estimated to be worth around Rs 4 crore in the illegal market, police said.
A case has been registered at Lumshnong Police Station under the NDPS Act, and an investigation is underway to establish backward and forward linkages.
Police have appealed to the public to provide any information about other miscreants involved in this illegal act, promising to keep their identity secret and offer suitable rewards.
