Titosstarwell Chyne new UDP general secretary

Chyne said the priority would be to further strengthen the party organisation and ensure close coordination between the elected representatives and the party.
“I assure that I will fulfill the responsibility bestowed upon me,” Chyne said, and added that the party’s functioning had been affected over the past few months following the resignation of Jemino.
He expressed hope about the party’s future and said, “I am confident, especially after meeting the presidents and secretaries of the different districts, that we will be able to further strengthen the party organization. There will be close coordination between elected representatives and the party from now on.”
In response to the allegations that the party disconnects with grassroots workers during non-election periods, Chyne said the party has action plans to build connections with workers in constituencies where there are no elected representatives.
“To say there is disconnection doesn’t arise in constituencies where the party has elected representatives, but in constituencies without elected representatives, no doubt we are facing some challenges, as it is difficult for unsuccessful candidates to remain in touch with the people for the whole five years. But already, we have action plans to build a connection between grassroots workers in constituencies without elected representatives and the party,” he said.
Reshuffle
To a question whether the CEC discussed the cabinet reshuffle, Metbah said a few leaders have raised the issue, but the CEC is not the platform to discuss the matter. “Therefore, we took note of their suggestions during the meeting,” he said.
