Shillong,Feb 8: Meghalaya TMC has sought action against those involved in attacking its workers at Charbatapara in Phulbari, West Garo Hills, on Tuesday night.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the AITC said the attack carried out by the NPP was shameful and unscathed display of its brawniness.
According to the TMC, the attack took place around 10.30 pm at the residence of one of the TMC party workers named Nozrul Hoque and the NPP workers vandalised the premises where a meeting was being conducted by the party.
Hoque, yet reeling under severe injuries, said, “They (NPP) workers came in a group and started attacking and destroying my property, bamboo walls, tables, chairs with logs and stones. They also pelted stones and bricks.” He further added that the MDC of Shyamnagar, Habibuz Zaman aka Kasa stopped near his house when his workers pelted stones injuring four TMC workers. Hoque is currently admitted to the Phulbari CHC for treatment.
An FIR has been filed by one Nozim Hussain, S/o (L) Abdul S K, R/o Charbatapara, alleging that one procession led by Habibuz Zaman stopped near his house and pelted stones at his house due to which four persons were injured. As per the report of the District Election Office the reason for the clash was that while Zaman and his supporters were passing through the village, a few TMC supporters hit their Scorpio vehicle which led to the scuffle.

The official version
As per report received from DEO WGH , following is the brief sequence of events.
Around 10.45 pm, there was a scuffle/group clash between TMC and NPP supporters at Charbatapara village under 46 – Phulbari AC.
As per information, SGE. Mominin (ex-MLA/TMC), Moni Mondol (TMC), Bhuttu (TMC), and Habibur Zaman (MDC/NPP) were present at the spot.
Accordingly, on receipt of information, team from Phulbari PS rushed to the PO and controlled the situation.
Nine persons were sent for medical examination at Phulbari CHC but all were discharged after examination.
One person (Nojrul Hoque) has been advised to contact higher centre as the injury is near eye.

Trouble mongers to execute bond
All trouble mongers will be made to execute bond for good behaviour, the election authorities said.
A case has been registered and efforts are being made by the district election machinery to arrest the persons involved in the incident, the officials said.
Out of the 131 named accused persons, 25 have already been bound over by police earlier and remaining will be bound over in order to prevent such incidents in future, the statement said.
“SDO (C) and SDPO, Dadenggre Sub-Division have been sent to visit the PO and assess the situation. They will also conduct flag march in the area today as show of force. All trouble mongers shall be made to execute bond for good behaviour.Authorities are keeping a close watch over the situation”, the statement said.
