TMC questions govt intention in delaying Mukroh arrest
Shillong, Nov 29: Trinamool Congress national spokesperson Saket Gokhale on Tuesday expressed concern about the delay in arresting those responsible for killing five villagers at Mukroh in West Jaintia Hills.
In a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Gokhale said the government is giving a free hand to the perpetrators to intimidate witnesses and destroy evidence by not arresting them.
“W would like you to clarify as to why no arrests have been made in the case even a week after the murder. It raises serious questions as to whether there is a concerted attempt to dilute the case due to pressure from your ally BJP as well as Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma,” the letter read.
Gokhale demanded that the perpetrators be immediately arrested and taken into custody by the Meghalaya Police.
