Shillong, May 20: With the fast spreading of Covid cases, the state government has imposed total lockdown in Ri Bhoi, West Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills.
While the total lockdown started in Ri Bhoi at 8 pm on Thursday, the total lockdown in West Garo Hills will be from 2 pm and in West Jaintia Hills from 6 pm on Friday till May 31, 5 am.

This was confirmed by principal secretary in-charge health and family welfare department.
According to Kumar, besides East Khasi Hills, the cases are fast spreading in other districts and hence, total lockdown is the only way to contain the infection.
He stressed the need on the part of people to maintain health protocols which, according to him, can only destroy the virus.
