Shillong, June 30: Tura MDC got only vague reply to the RTI query on collapse of the wall of PA Sangma stadium in Tura.
Tura MDC Bernard Marak said the Deputy Commissioner’s office refused to reply to an RTI query on the collapse of the wall of PA Sangma stadium.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Marak said the PIO gave vague reply to the RTI query saying “questions were vague”. RTI petition seeking information on temporary wall around P A Sangma stadium which collapsed a few weeks ago and complete details of the projects being constructed in the P A Sangma stadium were not revealed due to the adamant attitude of the head of the district violating the RTI Act, Marak said.
“The Public Information Officer (PIO) simply replied that the questions were vague. If the head of the District refuses to reply to the RTI query, what more can we expect from other departments which did not reply to the RTI queries filed on February 12, he said.
The information sought was detailed project reports of all the projects being constructed in PA Sangma stadium. Second information sought was the details of amount sanctioned by the Centre and withdrawn till date. Third information sought was status of each project and their due date to be completed. 4th was, inquiry and action taken report of the wall which had collapsed earlier. Last was an RTI query seeking the DPR of the temporary wall which collapsed and who sanctioned construction.
“Deputy Commissioner’s office simply replied question is vague, as to what project and work status is being asked for. There is no transparency and district administration is hiding the facts even to RTI queries which is a violation of an RTI act. The PA Sangma stadium issue will be taken up with the Centre and legal action will be sought. There was no action on the FIR filed earlier when the wall collapsed for the first time. The present structures are causing threat to the locality”, he added.
