Shillong, Apr 28: Serious injuries on two youths in West Garo Hills have compelled Tura MDC Bernard N Marak to seek action against ARSS company.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Sunday, Bernard said, , I am compelled to seek your reply on the activity of a tainted company- , I am compelled to seek your reply on the activity of a tainted company – ARSS, which as I know is a tainted company and has been blacklisted for sub standart work of Dawki road in the state. How is it active in Garo Hills and who allotted the work to them and on what condition? This company’s dumper has caused many accidents in Garo Hills which has left many victims serious, recent one took place on Sunday afternoon., which as I know is a tainted company and has been blacklisted for sub standard work of Dawki road in the state. This afternoon, one youth was dragged to a certain distance causing serious injury to his leg and he is presently battling for his life in Tura Civil Hospital, he pointed out.
“Dumpers caused two accidents in my MDC constituency in a short span of time latest being this afternoon which took place near MBOSE. This is the second accident caused by the dumper after the accident which left a 14 year-old-student with serious injury on her leg, regarding which I have already apprised you in my previous mail”, he said.
According to Bernard, irrespective of the connections the ARSS has, prompt action should be taken besides putting on hold their work and all other activities”, Bernard said.
He wanted stringent action against the culprits who caused the accidents.
“I would appreciate a written reply on how a blacklisted company is working here in Garo Hills? Keeping all aside and prioritising uncompromised development in Garo Hills, the sanctions for growth by the Centre should not be through a tainted company. Therefore, I request immediate action and till then, let the works taken up by ARSS company be put on hold and plying of trucks, especially dumpers during the day be restricted in the town area as future of our youth is at stake”, he added.
