Shillong, Aug 1: Two youths were arrested on Sunday for snatching away a mobile phone of a lady.
According to East Khasi Hills police, on July 30 around 2.20 pm, two persons, who came in a bike snatched away the mobile phone of Jennyta Swer who was on her way from Law u Sib to Madanriting. They first stopped and asked the woman for her mobile to make a call. When she refused, they snatched it. A case was registered vide Madanriting PS case No 96 (7) 22 u/s 392 IPC, police said.
On Sunday around about 5.25 pm, Madanriting police arrested the duo from Mawblei after looking out for them . They have been identified as Othaniel Marbaniang (19), a resident of Nongthymmai Rngi Neng and Govind Singh ( 20) of Demthring Block-1.
The new bike (MT.15 ( Y 2) was seized and the phone recovered.
“Their involvement in other such cases cannot be ruled out for which a thorough investigation will be done”, police added.
