Shillong, June 19: Police on Monday evening arrested two drug peddlers Biaklian Guite and Imliakum Longkumer and seized 2.738 kg heroin
They were travelling in a Tata winger (NL 07T 0815)
The ANTF team and staff of Lad Rymbai PS setup a naka near BMS Fuel Station Nongsning and the vehicle was detained around 6 15 pm. During the search of the vehicle in the presence of independent witnesses, 200 soap cases containing yellowish orange powder were found concealed in various hidden compartments in the vehicle. Preliminary test of the powder gave a positive result for heroin. The total weight was found to be 2.738 kg. A case is being registered at Khliehriat PS and investigation is on to trace the backward and forward linkages.
While the accused Guite( 32) is from Churachandpur, Manipur, Longkumer (40) is from Dimapur ,Nagaland.
Two mobile phones, Rs 2500 and the Tata winger were seized.
