Shillong, July 15: Two more persons were arrested in connection with the murder of four persons at Umpleng in East Jaintia Hills.
Earlier, first accused involved in the crime was arrested.
East Jaintia Hills police informed that in connection with Khliehriat PS case No. 49(07)2024 u/s 103/3(5) BNS, where four bodies were recovered in Umpleng area on July 6 and suspected to have been murdered, three persons have been arrested so far. The details of the arrested persons are not being disclosed in the interest of investigation, the police said.
Investigation is ongoing to trace and to arrest the other person(s) involved in the case, the police added.
Police have identified all the bodies of the victims. They are Loba Tamang of Umpleng, Rajesh Rai (26) from Umsyllih before Reaching PHE, Rymbai. Nazar Kyndait (33) a resident of Dkhiah East and Ravi Rai (23) residing at Umthe under Umpleng.
