Two Roads Studio: A safe space for artists

Sristy Choudhury has created an urban ashram in Delhi for creative souls who are looking for a space to highlight their work

A creative entrepreneur, filmmaker and dog lover has carved a solace for the urban population at Two Roads Studio, an NGO located at Parliament Street in central Delhi.

Sristy Choudhury, founder of Two Roads Studio, has created an urban ashram for creative souls who are looking for a space to highlight their work, find a direction and express themselves freely.

The NGO has a mission to empower artists, small business owners, and creatives — offering them the support and training they need to elevate their craft, amplify their impact, and discover deeper meaning in their work.

The founder got the idea of establishing a community space during lockdown. “After the first lockdown, I moved with my dogs to live in the jungles of Coorg, located in the Western Ghats of India. During this time, I hiked often, took walks in the coffee estates, and sat by the waterfalls to observe and be inspired by the abundance of nature. I documented my life living with the Kodavas through a short film I produced,” says Sristy.

“While living in Coorg, I became obsessed with the idea of creating a community space in Delhi — one that could breathe life into the city’s otherwise rigid and monotonous rhythm. So, on my return to Delhi, it was clear to me what my next professional adventure would be,” she adds.

Her professional career started after she graduated from Vancouver Film School in Canada and started working in the Film and TV industry.

“It was an enriching experience for me to be on professional sets and collaborate with other creatives. Filmmaking, being a collaborative endeavour, taught me how to work seamlessly with other creatives, fostering mutual respect and synergy in the process. I moved to New Delhi in 2015 with a lot of new ideas and goals to create something meaningful in my home country. While I continued to work on independent films and documentaries, I also contributed some of my time to building Delhi Poetry Slam, a literary organisation founded by Saumya Choudhury as a place for artists and poets to explore their true voice through the vehicle of spoken word poetry,” says Sristy.

The NGO offers a safe space for people to express their creative ideas and find a direction amidst the chaos of city life.
