Two-time BJP MP Babul Supriyo quits politics

Kolkata, July 31 (UNI): Two-time MP from Asansol and former Union Minister Babul Supriyo, who was dropped from the Narendra Modi ministry in recent reshuffle, on Saturday announced to quit politics, according to Facebook account of singer turned politician.

“Alvida,” 50-year-old Babul wrote in Bengali on his Facebook account and said, “I’m not going to any political party. TMC, Congress, CPM nobody has called me, I’m not going anywhere. I need some time to do social work. It is not necessary to be in the politics for doing social work,” he said.

“Yes obviously I would resign from my MP ship too,” he added.

“I have stayed for too long. I will leave my house (government allotted quarters) within one month,” he added.

Babul Supriyo, who on his first win in 2014 as an MP was given a junior ministerial berth in the Modi government and was also allotted for the second term in 2019, but in the recent rejig, he was dropped from the cabinet on July 7 and many faces got in in which five of them from Bengal.
