Shillong,Nov 8: Two women were arrested in connection with haul of drugs in the city.
Police said on November 5 source information was received that an illegal consignment of narcotic drugs was being delivered to a person staying at Madanryting.
Further on November 6 ,after the information was verified, the ANTF team along with officers and personnel of Madanrting police station proceeded to the residence of the suspect. A house search was conducted at the residence of the suspect in the presence of independent witnesses.
During search, 101 soap boxes (66 soap boxes kept inside a purple colour bag and 35 soap boxes kept inside a carton box) were recovered. All the soap boxes contained heroin which was confirmed by a preliminary test. The seized heroin weighing 1.116 kg was trafficked from Myanmar.
“Two women have been arrested in the case registered i.e. Madanrting P.S Case No. 150(11)2021 U/S 21(c)/29 NDPS Act and investigation is on to nab others involved in the racket”, police added.
