Shillong, July 14: As the water level of Umiam lake is 3205.75 feet at 8 am on Friday, the Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner has issued warning to the people residing in the area to be alert once the water is released.
The notice of the DC below
“This is for general information to the public that the water level at Umiam dam is 3205.75 at 8 am on 14/07/2023. The water from Umiam dam might be released any time in case there is further rise in water level in reservoir, above the safe level. People staying in the downstream of Umiam dam are requested to be extra cautious and are advised not to venture into river/streams so as to avoid any unfortunate incident and to stay away from streams, drains and culverts, etc,. In case of flood. people should stay away from electric poles or power lines to avoid electrocution”.
