Shillong, May 29: As part of the nationwide programme to celebrate the 9 years of BJP- led NDA government at the Centre, union minister of state for social justice Pratima Bhowmik on Monday briefed the press on the achievements made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She highlighted on the various schemes brought in by the government for the people of the country post 2014 which includes the jan dhan yojna, jan arogya yojna, kisan samman nidhi, digital india, khelo india, jal jeevan mission.
The minister gave a powerpoint presentation on PM Modi’s mission of giving back every paise towards serving the poor which included mention of the world’s biggest vaccination drive that covered 220 crore free vaccinations administered throughout the country post covid pandemic. In order to provide affordable medicines to the poor, 9300 aushadhi kendras were established. Ten percent EWS quota reservation based on economic need is being implemented for higher education besides providing scholarships to crores of students throughout the country.
In order to streamline inter-ministerial gaps while implementing large scale developmental projects throughout the country the PM Gati Shakti infrastructural plan has been introduced to cut time that usually causes for delay in completion of projects. She also highlighted the number of new airports that came in the last 9 years comparative to the last regime and in record time the speed of road construction has reached up to 53868 kms just between 2014 to 2023. In a first which was never attempted in the country 111 waterways were developed in the past 9 years to boost transportation of goods using river fronts. While taking keen interest towards developing the northeast, PM Modi has recently inaugurated the first premiere medical institution AIIMS in the region. The first Vande Bharat train has also been launched between Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri to reduce travel time for commuters from the north east. The four laning of Shillong-Dawki road is also being implemented under the able leadership of PM Narendra Modi”, the BJP leader said.
