Shillong, May 2: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Thursday recommended three names for the appointment of Meghalaya DGP.
The present DGP LR Bishnoi will retire on May 19.
An official source said on Thursday that the government can select from the three IPS officers recommended by the UPSC- Idashisha Nongrang (1992 batch) RP Meena (1993) and Deepak Kumar (1994).
The state government had sent five names to the UPSC. While Nongrang, Meena and Kumar were willing to take up the task, two others- GP Singh(1991 batch) and Harmeet Singh (1992) were unwilling.
The government may appoint Nongrang, who is currently heading the Civil Defence & Home Guards, as the new DGP considering seniority.
When contacted, a state official said the government is yet to receive the names from the UPSC.
