Villager hands over wild fowl to forest dept
Shillong, Nov 1: A resident of Moosakhia village handed over a wild fowl to staff of the Wildlife Department, West Jaintia Hills.
It is locally known as Syiar khloo.
The pheasant came to the very busy Iawmusiang Market.

Lamare, who runs a shop, said he saw the fowl initially rested on the wire but it fell and he and his friends captured it.
Melanie Passah, Project Manager Foundation for Ecological Security (FES), said the bird looks like a female Kalij pheasant which can be found in the NE.
Lamare, who is also a Deacon of the Presbyterian Church, Moosakhia, said it was lucky that he caught the pheasant otherwise people were ready to feast on it.
