Shillong, July 20: The residents of Nongrim Nongladaw village under Bhoirymbong Block have alleged that the signatures of the villagers were forged to misappropriate funds under MGNREGS scheme.
The work was construction of check dams.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Wanpyndap Lapang, the ex-secretary of Nongrim Nongladaw village pointed out about the forgery of signatures of around 80 job card holders of Nongrim Nongladaw village, Bhoirymbong block allegedly by village headman cum VEC chairman of Nongrim Nongladaw VEC along with other miscreants from at least 5 work orders under the Nongrim Nongladaw VEC, resulting in the misappropriation of at least 1.5 crore of public funds under the MGNREGS.
The police failed to register FIR filed by the residents in this regard.
The villagers said the matter is pending though the complaint letters were given to Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi District and the officer In -charge Khapmara PIC since March 15 this year.
