VPP supports deficit teachers

Shillong, Oct 22: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has expressed solidarity with the deficit teachers of Meghalaya in their struggle for justice, dignity and the protection of their legitimate rights.
In a statement issued on Thursday(Oct 22) , VPP president Ardent Basaiawmoit said that the recent agitation by deficit teachers is a disturbing reminder of the growing frustration within the teaching community over unresolved service-related grievances.
“It is deeply unfortunate that teachers, who dedicate their lives to shaping the future of our children, are compelled to resort to agitation to make the government listen to their grievances. Their demands concerning CPF, DA arrears, retirement benefits and other service matters deserve serious and time-bound action, not bureaucratic excuses and empty assurances. The VPP strongly condemns the attitude of bureaucratic arrogance and insensitivity towards the teaching community. The IAS is meant to serve the people, not to develop a mindset of superiority over those they are entrusted to serve. No administrative officer, regardless of rank, should treat teachers as inferior or dismiss their legitimate concerns merely because they lack bureaucratic power. Teachers are the foundation of society. A government that fails to respect its teachers fails to understand the true value of education. Administrative authority must be exercised with humility, accountability and empathy, not with an attitude that reduces people’s grievances to mere files and formalities”, Basaiawmoit said.
The VPP urged the state government to engage meaningfully with the teachers’ associations and resolve their outstanding demands without further delay. “Teachers deserve respect, not indifference; justice, not excuses. The VPP stands firmly with the deficit teachers in their struggle for dignity and justice”, Basaiawmoit said.
