Shillong, May 7: The civil defence department has issued instructions to people on mock exercise and air raid precaution.
Joint secretary, civil defence MK Sangma briefed reporters on Wednesday in this regard.
Here are the instructions
“All citizens are requested to kindly note and adhere to the following instructions with regards to the mock exercise on Air Raid Precaution:-
1. (Action Warning: Incoming Air Raid) At 6:28 PM a siren with fluctuating or warbling notes will be sounded for duration of 2 minutes to warn citizens of incoming Air Raids (Simulation). Citizens are requested to move indoors and seek cover for safety.
2. At 6:30 PM Blackout (Temporary shutdown of electricity) will commence which will last for 2 (Two) minutes. Citizens are requested to switch off inverters for 2 minutes. Vehicular traffic will not be affected and move about as normal.
3. (Raiders Passed: All Clear) At 6:32 PM a siren with a steady pitch will be sounded for 1 (one) Minute which indicates that the Air Raid is over (Simulation) and the Black Out will also conclude. This also indicates the end of the Mock Exercise on Air Raid Precautions.
4. We thank you for your cooperation and assistance in ensuring the success of this drill carried out for public safety and our Nation’s security”.
