West Khasi Hills- Kamrup border panels segregate problem villages

Shillong, Aug 28: The regional committees on West Khasi Hills-Kamrup border sector have  decided to narrow down to problem villages  as part of resolving the border dispute in the sector.

The meeting segregated problem areas and non-problem areas.

However, the committee members refused to divulge details about the segregated villages.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, the chairman of the West Khasi Hills border, Paul Lyngdoh said the decision of the committee is to narrow down villages of difference from the general list of disputed villages. The deputy commissioners and the local MDCs after proper assessment will assist the regional committee members who will carry out the visit of the short-listed villages after the Assembly session at the end of September.

Chairman in-charge of Kamrup district border sector Chandra Mohan Patowary said with  consultations, the dispute in Langpih sector can be resolved.
