Will work together with all to strengthen party: new BJP president

Shillong, Oct 3: The new state BJP president, Rikman Momin said on Tuesday that he wants to work together with all to strengthen the party.

“I will work together with all including the outgoing president to strengthen the party”, Momin told reporters on Tuesday.


He said Lok Sabha elections are round the corner and after getting direction from the Centre, the party will start working.

The state leadership will wait for the direction of the Centre regarding the candidates to contest both Shillong and Tura seats, he added.

According to Rikman, people still have hope in the BJP as the Prime Minister is concerned for the poor and hence he had launched many schemes.

“We will give awareness about the schemes in all the areas of the state”, Momin said.

Momin admitted the challenges in expanding the party as the party secured only two MLAs.

He also asserted zero tolerance against corruption.

Former president Ernest Mawrie said he successfully completed the tenure. “The change of president was after I completed my tenure , he said rubbishing allegations of internal conflicts and nepotism.

The central leadership affected the change of presidents in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Pondicherry.
