Woman arrested for attempted burglary; police look at all angles, including inside job

Shillong, June 29: Police are looking at any inside job into the attempted burglary at Meghalaya Rural Bank in Bisnupur by the ‘missing’ woman identified as Isabella Marboh from New Kench’s Trace, who was found in the bank on Monday after she entered there on Friday.

Police arrested the woman on Tuesday on charges of burglary and sent to a quarantine centre after she was tested for Covid.

However, questions are doing the round as to why the caretaker or the guard of the bank did not check inside before closing it on Friday.

Sources said that the long stay of the woman in the bank for three days with food and tools has exposed its security system as the caretaker or the guard failed to notice her inside the bank.

According to preliminary reports, the intention was burglary as there was an attempt to break the strong room besides damaging the CCTV cameras, but no money was taken out.
