Workshop for awareness on mental health held in city
Shillong, Aug 10: Medical officers and mental health professionals from across Meghalaya recently met at the State Convention Centre for a special awareness programme and Mind Body Medicine Workshop, organised as part of the Indian Psychiatric Society – Meghalaya State Branch Annual Conference.
The interactive event focused on practical ways to improve mental well-being by connecting the mind and body — an approach that is gaining importance for managing stress, anxiety, lifestyle-related problems and overall health in today’s fast-paced world.
The event was aimed at reducing stigma around mental health and encouraging people to seek help early while also adopting simple lifestyle practices that support emotional and physical balance.
Among the expert speakers were Prof. Nicola Carissa Lyngdoh Iangrai, Director, Shillong Medical College, Dr. Pakha Tesia, President, Indian Psychiatric Society – Meghalaya State Branch, Dr. Angela Paswet, Joint Director, Health Services, Government of Meghalaya, and Dr. Sonali Shinde Tesia, Consultant Psychiatrist at Mind & Wellness Clinic (Shillong and Guwahati).
