State to implement early childhood mission
Shillong, Jan 17: The cabinet has decided to implement early childhood development mission and the purpose is to cover 1,500 villages not under the ICDS programme which currently takes care over 4,000 villages.
“Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, education minister Lahkmen Rymbui said taking into consideration the need of early childhood development, the cabinet has approved the mission which will be a convergence of social welfare, health department, education department and other stakeholders for ensuring better health care and education of the children.
Rymbui said there are over 4 lakh children in the age group of 0-6 years in Meghalaya who will benefit from the mission.
To a question, the education minister said Rs 350 crore will be the financial implication but details will be known once the MoU is signed with the agency which will provide fund for implementation of the mission.
