1st Test: India 125/4 at stumps, trail England by 58 runs on rain-hit Day 2

Nottingham, Aug 5 (UNI) India were 125 for four in their first innings at stumps after heavy rain washed out the entire evening session on the second day of the first Test of the five-match series against England, here on Thursday.

Only 33.4 overs were bowled in the day and most of them came in the morning session. KL Rahul notched up his 12th Test fifty and was unbeaten on 57 before the play was called off. Rishabh Pant was batting on 7 at the other end.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma and Rahul batted brilliantly against the England bowlers after resuming the day at 21 for no loss. They stitched a 97-run opening stand before Rohit was caught by Sam Curran at fine leg. However, India lost three wickets – Chetehswar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane in quick succession after lunch.

While Kohli was out for a golden duck, Pujara and Rahane scored 4 and 5 respectively. For England, James Anderson took two wickets, while Ollie Robinson picked one.
