LP school contractual teachers protest
Shillong, Aug 1: The government LP School contractual teachers have sought their jobs back after they made unsuccessful attempt of Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET).
They started their protest infront of Chief Minister’s official bungalow on Monday here but they were moved to a place near MBoSE office ( in picture) by the police.
Atleast 800 teachers are demanding their reinstatement after their services were terminated in 2021.
The president of All Meghalaya Government LP School Contractual Teachers’ Association, Birbor Riangtem said, “Though MTET was introduced in 2010, the examination was conducted only in 2019 and by that time we were over-aged and many of us were not qualified.”
He said the contractual teachers want to continue their work till their retirement.
