“As per the report that I am getting there are no irregularities but nonetheless, the complaint has come to me so I have ordered a departmental enquiry,” Marak told reporters on Monday.

“When enquiry is completed, if we find there are some irregularities we will definitely go for blacklisting of the company and I will make sure if officials are involved we will fix responsibility as well,” he said.

The HYC had on June 20 claimed that it was found that the Directorate of Housing, Meghalaya had procured sub-standard and low quality sheets delivered and supplied by the supplier known as ‘Hariana Iron Works Pvt. Ltd, Kolkata, West Bengal’, which usually does not deal with manufacture or supply of roofing sheets as per their company’s profile. The HYC pointed out that the thickness of the roofing sheets supplied was only about 0.25MM and not 0.45MM.

Jal Jeevan Mission review

The minister also decided to visit twelve districts of the state for reviewing the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

“Since the model code of conduct (MCC) has just been lifted, I will be reviewing the JJM implementation in the state. I will be touring throughout the state and make sure whatever complaints are being attended to,” Marak said.

The minister said there will be some issues and concerns. “So whatever complaints are there, we are trying to attend and we will try to rectify,” he added.

The  minister said 80 percent of work has been completed and over 5.14 lakh households are connected with functional water taps under the JJM.
