Guwahati, May 12 (UNI): Assam’s Covid-19 situation continues to be grim with the state reporting as many as 85 deaths in the last 24 hours. This has pushed Assam’s Covid-19 death toll up to 1838.
The state in the last 24 hours has registered over 6,000 new Covid-19 cases.
These new 6,258 new Covid-19 cases in Assam have been detected at a high positivity rate of 9.13%. These cases were detected after conducting tests of 68,572 samples.
Meanwhile, the state’s Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 86.06%.
The newly appointed Health Minister of Assam, Keshav Mahanta, said the state government is not planning to impose lockdown in the state as of yet.
“There are no plans of imposing lockdown in the State as of yet,” said Mahanta.
However, the administration has introduced stricter measures in the State to bring the COVID-19 situation under control.
