Shillong, Jan 26: The health department has denied media reports that the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma violated Covid-19 protocols and attended office on Tuesday and Republic Day function (see picture) on Wednesday.
Principal Secretary in-charge Health Sampath Kumar said as per the new protocols issued on January 10, in the section 2 (d), it is clear that quarantine time for asymptomatic persons is only five days and only symptomatic persons will have to isolate themselves for seven days.
According to the health official, the chief minister did not have any major symptoms.
He said the last 3 days of the five quarantine days are crucial and if there is no fever, there will not be complications.
“We have taken a lot of advice from what is happening around in terms of health protocols”, he added when asked about the controversy surrounding the chief minister on Covid protocol.
