Dhaka, Mar 17 (UNI): The 102nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed in Bangladesh on Thursday.
On this day in 1920, Mujibur Rahman, the architect of independent Bangladesh, was born into a respected Muslim family in Tungipara village of Gopalganj sub-division, now a district.

The country celebrated the day through many programmes with fanfare and gaiety. It is a public holiday in Bangladesh on Thursday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tributes to her father and Bangabandhu by placing a wreath at his portrait in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum here. The ruling Awami League also did the same.
