BSF–BGB volley ball match held to renew friendship
Shillong, Sept 7: Celebrating “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’’, a Maitri Volleyball match was organised between the Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) near BSF outpost Bahadur, 28 Bn BSF, under South West Garo Hills district to foster friendly relation between both the border guarding forces of the two neighbouring countries.
The match was played in the true spirit of sportsmanship and was competed in a healthy way against each other, a BSF statement said.
Amidst cheers and applause from onlookers/supporters from both the team, the BGB team conceded the match to the BSF team by 0-3. About 500 locals from border area participated and cheered both the teams. The civil population of the border expressed their joy and appreciated both BSF and BGB for creating such a congenial and cordial atmosphere on the international border which will go a long way in creating friendly atmosphere among the border population.
Inderjit Singh Rana, IG BSF Meghalaya said “Sports being a universal culture is an important means of combining different people in the world. It is an activity that contributes to world peace. Infact sport is the most noble of the wars in international platforms because it is a war of peace. The theme behind holding such friendly match is to infuse sense of patriotism and national integration in the minds of the youths and also to enhance the already existing peaceful and friendly atmosphere between the BSF and BGB”.
