SPARK events celebrate Children’s Day with underprivileged children
Shillong, Nov 14: SPARK, a local NGO that works for the betterment of street children, organised special events on Monday on the occasion of Children’s Day.
In a statement, the NGO said the series of activities and events for the deprived children were not only to celebrate the day but also to empower and build capacities of these under-privileged children.
SPARK conducted a sensitisation and awareness programme and at the same time, provided platforms to the children to share their problems as well as their views to resolve different social evils. Besides, these underprivileged and deprived childrenĀ were also taken on a fun-filled trip.
Initially, SPARK felt that it would not be able to organise the programme due to lack of resources and financial assistance but with some Good Samaritans joining the cause and coming forward to assist the organisation to celebrate the Day, SPARK could finally implement the ideas.
The programmes were held at Mawlong, Mawlynrei Triashnong, Pongkung, Bara Bazaar slum and Ragmen Nongsder.
During these five days, hundreds of underprivileged children participated and had a very good time interacting with the guests and participating in cultural activities and other different games.
