
Shillong, Nov 22: The state cabinet on Tuesday decided to send a delegation to New Delhi on November 24 to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah to press for a probe by NIA or CBI intio the incident of killing of five civilians in Mukroh, West Jaintia Hills.
The delegation will also submit a report to the National Human Rights Commission in Delhi.
Judicial and SIT probes
Besides, the cabinet also decided to have a judicial inquiry into the incident and a probe by a special investigation team ( SIT) of Meghalaya police .
Assam action
Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that Assam Chief Minister informed him that the officer-in-charge of Jirkinding police station, Assam forest protection officer were suspended and the SP of West Karbi Anglong district was transferred.
Chief Minister and a cabinet delegation will also visit Mukroh on Wednesday to hand over ex-gratia to the victims.
The chief minister said all official functions will be suspended till November 30.
Besides, the government has already cancelled all festivals, he added.
