Shillong, Dec 6: The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale is organising an international paragliding competition at Laitdiengsai, ahead of Smit, on December 7.
Over 100 paragliders, including 16 women, will represent eight countries, like the US, Indonesia and Nepal. Sources said the applications for the men’s category were overwhelming.

“I have been going to the village regularly to practise. There are no paragliding school in Tripura and I visit other states to train paragliders,” said 41-year-old Ajit Sangma, who was in the army and got into the sport in 2003.
