Shillong, May 16: Several meetings will be held starting from Wednesday’s cabinet discussion on roster system though the VPP is determined to go ahead with the sit-in demonstration on the same day.
The VPP is demanding a review of the roster system and reservation policy.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma told reporters that after the cabinet meeting where a presentation will be made on roster , there will be a meeting of the MDA partners on May 18 followed by a meeting of all political parties on May 19.
Border issue
Amid rising tension among the border residents, Conrad and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sharma will conduct a joint visit to some of the sensitive zones, including Karbi Anglong, along the inter-state border.
Conrad said, “Let me just share with you that I have been in constant touch with the Assam counterpart and we are going to meet in a couple of weeks definitely before the month end.”
Border problems in Khanduli-Karbi Anglong areas were reported recently.
“We have also decided together that a joint visit will be made especially to these sensitive zones to build up the confidence of the people and also to ensure that we ask our respective administration and our respective citizens and our respective areas and officials concerned to restrain from any kind of actions that could lead to a situation getting tense. So we will be making joint visits to these locations not all but to certain locations,” he said.
