Manipur CM lauds Shah for ‘no report of casualties due to the violence since June 13’

New Delhi, June 25 (UNI): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah here on Sunday, a day after the latter convened an all-party meeting over the current crisis in the northeastern state.
During his meeting with Shah at his residence, Singh apprised about the present situation in Manipur, sources said.
Meanwhile, the Manipur chief minister in a tweet wrote, “Called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah Ji in New Delhi today and briefed about the evolving situation on the ground in Manipur.”
Singh said under Shah’s close supervision, the State and Central governments have been able to control the violence to a great extent in the past week. “It may be noted that there has been no report of casualties due to the violence since June 13,” he said.
According to media reports, there were nine casualties in the state on June 13 night.
Singh said Shah has assured that the Central government will take all possible steps to bring normalcy in Manipur. “Further, Amit Shah Ji advised us to strengthen our work towards achieving everlasting peace and also sought the cooperation of every stakeholders in Manipur to ensure that peace prevails in the state,” he said.Manipur Assembly Speaker T Satyabrata Singh was also present.
Opposition Congress has been blaming the BJP-led government for the current crisis in Manipur and demanded immediate dismissal of Singh.
The party also said the all-party meeting convened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah was just an “eye-wash and a formality.”
