Shillong, June 28: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has asked the state government to release the pending salary of the home guards personnel.
In a letter to the Minister in-charge Home (Civil Defence and Home Guards) Comingone Ymbon, VPP general secretary Ricky AJ Syngkon said, “I would like to draw your attention to the payment of salary to the home guards personnel which is long overdue as they have not received their salary for the past 4 months.”
“This is a matter of utmost callousness and inconsideration on the part of the department concerned for the selfless services rendered by the home guards personnel,” he said.
Medical seats
In a separate letter addressed to Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, the VPP asked the state government to ensure that the allotment of medical seats to the students is made on the basis of merit.
“It is our earnest request that the allotment of medical seats to the students be made on the basis of merit,” VPP general secretary Ricky AJ Syngkon said in the letter.
“Furthermore, while finalising the allotment of seats, due consideration should be made, in all fairness, to ensure the meritorious students are duly allotted in the top ranking medical colleges/institutes of the country,” he said.
