Shillong, Nov 27: The new Gambegre MLA Mehtab Chandee Sangma and her husband and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma ruled out any change in the coalition and the cabinet.
The tally of NPP MLAs is 32 after Mehtab’s win.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, they said that the win in Gambegre does not mean that there will be a change in the coalition.
“We want the coalition to continue till the end of the term”, Mehtab said.
Later, the chief minister also ruled out disturbing the coalition and indicated that getting an MLA does not mean cabinet reshuffle.
‘Not keen on cabinet berth’
When asked, Mehtab said that she is not interested in getting cabinet berth as she is yet to learn many things in politics.
“I am a newcomer and less experienced in politics, hence “, she added.
‘Health is a priority’
‘As I am a health professional, health is a priority and my focus will also be on development of roads in the constituency and setting up of infrastructure in schools’
She declined to comment to a question about lack of development of the constituency for more than 16 years by saying that she does not want to go to the past.
