Senior IAS officer Sanjay Malhotra new RBI guv
New Delhi, Dec 9 (UNI): Sanjay Malhotra, a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and Revenue Secretary, has been appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
An official communication said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment for three years, effective December 11, 2024.
Malhotra will succeed Shaktikanta Das who has remained at the central bank’s helm since December 2018. The extended tenure of Das ends on Tuesday (December 10, 2024).
Malhotra is a 1990-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre. He will assume charge as the 26th Governor of RBI.
Malhotra holds a BTech degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Kanpur. He has held key positions at the Centre and his home cadre Rajasthan.
